
Since serving as the district attorney for the Columbine High School shootings, Dave Thomas has become a nationally respected voice in the fight against school violence. A lifelong resident of the Denver area, he has shown unflagging commitment in seeking solutions which will prevent further tragedies such as the one he witnessed in Littleton. In his third term as District Attorney for Jefferson and Gilpin Counties in Colorado, Mr. Thomas has developed partnerships with community and government agencies to form innovative programs which address issues surrounding juvenile crime and domestic violence. He served as president of the Colorado District Attorneys' Council and served Colorado's representative to the National District Attorney's Association. He has received numerous awards and recognitions including the Drug Enforcement Administration's Enrique Camarena Award for his leadership in the fight against substance abuse. Dave served as Executive Director for the Colorado DA's Council and as a criminal justice consultant with the National Center for State Courts. Dave has now for the firm of O'Brien & Thomas, LLC, specializing in criminal defense.
